well.............I'm 30

So to be honest turning 30 sucked. My actual birthday pretty much sucked. We left our camping Christmas that morning so we had to wake up and clean all the facilities. Then we had to drive home -- 4 hours. We decided to stop for a fun lunch at least so I wanted TGIFridays. It is in Portland so we waited - passing up lots of other choices. So it was about 3 by the time we got there........... and then it was closed! I was so sad. So then I decided we would try out Cheesecake Factory since it was close. But then--- there was a 50 min wait -- at 3pm -- what the??? So there was no way we could wait that long -- plus I had to get home to make cookies for a friends farewell party that night. So all in all -- the day wasn't the best.
But it's been more then made up for.
The day after my birthday my friends Lisa and Kris put together a fun hula hoop party for me. We went to the church - so there was lots of space and played hula hoop games and learned (well kinda) some new tricks. It was a lot of fun.

some great gals!!!
if you can tell -- there is a piece of cake in front of me with a fork sticking out of the top -- that was my "candle" since we can't have open flames in the building. Much easier to blow out :)
the kids loved to go behind the glass and scream their heads off :)

Next was one of my favorite things -- Sam cut his stupid little braid off. I didn't even ask for him to do it. He obviously knows I hate it -- but had given up on asking. So the day after my birthday he surprised me with this braid dangling in my face. Then he made me cut his hair -- but I was more than happy to.
for some reason he really wanted me to put his braid in my mouth and then he would hold the braid in his mouth -- but I really didn't want that thing in my mouth :)

Finally my family had a party for me after our Christmas. They got me one of those big chocolate cakes from Costco... mmmmmmm.

All in all I had a pretty great year -- still not too excited about being 30 -- but at least I have pretty great family and friends to make me feel special.

Hula hoop party... what a fun idea. When I turn 30 my motto will be, "Thirty, flirty, and thriving" from the movie 13 Going on 30.
