Shedd Cafe

Sam and I went on a date this last Sat. here...........
The Shedd Cafe......
Pretty much looks dumpy right?? And it's in Shedd which is the middle of nowhere. But we happened to get a groupon for this place a while back - we went and got burgers and they were really good. And the small town, everyone-knows-everyone atmosphere was really cute. So when we found out that this place does special dinners twice a month (they usually are just open for lunch) -- we decided we wanted to try it. Even more so when we heard rave reviews about these dinners from a local. So Sat. was our night. And it didn't disappoint.

We started out with beer battered onion rings -- all you could eat............. (Sam loves onion rings) :)
Bottomless drinks -- we chose strawberry lemonade........
Then a tossed green salad and wheat bread and these awesome rolls. They were stuffed with cheddar cheese and cream cheese -- mmmm I love cream cheese
Then our main course was a huge locally raise pork chop, green peas, garlic mashed potatoes and homemade applesauce....... (it was hot) :)

And then we had 3 choices for dessert. We were soooooo stuffed it was hard to choose. The choices were a berry cobbler (which i think i might get next time), a choc. cake and a white chocolate mousse with a big strawberry. Sam got the mousse - I got the cake. They both were great..........
Sam got some of my cake too -- I was so full I was actually willing to share my dessert - a very rare occurrence.
This is how we both felt at the end.....about to burst.
It was a lot of fun and we are hoping to make it a monthly date. If anyone would like to join us next time -- come along!!

our little date

Every Tuesday and Wednesday the garbage truck comes. Jackson has a keen ear for when it arrives. We rush out as fast as we can to watch. Tuesdays are the best days because it is recycling day so there are more cans set out instead of just the dumpster at the end of our drive that gets emptied on Wednesdays.
The garbage man always honks and waves and even will stop for a second to chat. It is the highlight of Jacksons week. :)
Happy Garbage Day everyone!!

Terrific Kid 2.0

Addie has received the Terrific Kid Award every year she has been in school and Gwenny has been in the audience cheering her on. Now that Gwen is in kindergarten it is her turn to get the special attention -- and have Jackson (and us) cheer her on. It was fun because she didn't see us there and when her name was called the principal had to point us out in the back so she could find us. She got a big smile once she saw us. It was cute. :)
Way to go Gwenny!!

Lambing Barn

We've heard about the lambing barn over in Corvallis for the past few years but have never gone. This year we made a trip out and then a few days later I went again with Gwenny on her field trip. We missed a lamb being born both times -- which Addie was very happy about -she thinks that is totally disgusting.

At the field trip one of the workers pulled a lamb out and the kids got to pet it -- Gwenny was VERY excited about this.....
