hurray for addie may

Addie has gotten the Terrific Kid award every year so far. But this year is the first time she was the very first one picked for the year. I was pretty proud.
She always is shy at these assemblies -- but this year was extra painful. She was pretty embarrassed because she had had pink eye and her eye was still looking a little red (she wasn't contagious anymore). So she was pretty self-concious while she was up in front of everyone.

This is pretty much the look she had on her face the whole time........
Me and my girly.......................
Yay for Aunt Jessica and Dallin and Elizabeth to come support our girl...........
The family...........................

fire fighter day '10

A couple of weekends ago it was our towns annual fire fighter day. This year poor Addie was sick so I stayed home with her. Sam took Gwen and Jackson. They hit up all 4 stations and had lots of fun seeing a helicopter land, ride in a fire truck, spray the water hose, see a jaws of life demo and other fun stuff. Notice all the "thumbs up" pictures -- it must have been their thing for the day. :)

on the fire truck.................

in the helicopter (jacksons personal favorite!!)............

here is jax and gwen with their cousins dallin and elizabeth. Sam had set Jax on the lap of the fake man and he freaked out...........
learned some water safety............
a big 2 thumbs up......................

girl has no fear

Sam took a picture of Gwen the other day holding a praying mantis (last picture). When I saw the praying mantis I screamed and locked myself in the laundry room until I knew it was gone. Then when I put the picture on my computer I started to notice just how many pictures we have of Gwen holding different creepy crawlies. Everything she's held -- I have not - and don't think I could get myself to.
Anyways -- it was fun looking back and seeing her grow up and hold the little critters.

Here's baby Gwenny holding her first salamander -- she wasn't quite sure about them yet.......
Here she is with a sea star..........
Much more comfortable with the salamanders here..............
This was a huge, fat slug that she held onto forever when we were camping. It took me forever to scrape off all of the nasty goo it left on her skin.................
Fishing with dad.....................
another salamander.....................
Fishing derby --- Addie would barely hold one in a bag -- Gwenny dug her fingers right in..........
Crab................................................
baby chicks -- really not too gross -- but pretty stinky..........
And then there was the praying mantis.........

A couple of weeks ago we were at a park and Sam caught a snake in the grass -- she of course held that too -- but we didn't get a pic.
