Happy Family Day

The other day Addie decided it was Family Day - -and she wished everyone she saw that day a "Happy Family Day!!"

I then found a little display by my front door of some of our family pictures and a little sign that said "happy family day".........

And then I found another little display on the fireplace. I asked her what it was all about and she told me that she picked something that is special to each person in our family and put it up there. Then we would play a game where each person would find their special thing and tell why it was special/important to them. Addie's is the pink bear (named Te-Te that she has had since birth and sleeps with every night) , Gwen's was the purple fruit toy next to it (not really sure what was special - but it pops out to be a little bear and then folds up to be a berry- guess that's special) , Jackson's was the baseball that's in front of the gift bag (Jackson LOVES to throw everything - plus the ball has ToyStory on it - which he loves) , Sam's was the Cal Poly hat(where he graduated the first time and where Addie and Gwenny were born) and mine was the flip flop. :) (which I live in - plus these are THE most comfortable flip flops ever - plus I got them on our trip to SLO and Disneyland which was special)
Inside the gift bag was a bunch of pictures that the kids had made special for each family member
Here is a dinosaur picture that Addie drew for Jackson -- he loved it. :)

The whole thing made me smile. It was a fun day. I love that even tho they have little bodies they have big imaginations and bigger hearts.

Happy Family Day to You!!

Is that all we do??

So I know that a lot of my posts have been about running -- and it is starting to seem like that is all we do lately. But at least it's something healthy -- and what I am most happy about is -- I got Sam into it too!! :)
He used to make fun of me and our friends - the Phairs for signing up for runs and paying money to go run -- when you can run for free. He thought we were so dumb. Well -- looky, looky -- Sam just ran a HALF MARATHON!! And he wont stop signing up for things. He's already done a bunch and is signed up for a bunch more. He also has bought a street bike and is out riding around on that any free time he has. Two days ago he rode around for 23 miles. So he might start signing himself up for triathlons soon -- we'll see. I love that he is out there active -- and it's so fun that we can do these events together now.
The half marathon was the farthest he's ever run -- and we really didn't do a very good job at training. We only trained for about 4 weeks and we were definately not consistant. But he stayed with Lisa and I the whole run and he did awesome!! I was SO, SO proud of him as he crossed the finish line. I was much more happy for him then I was for myself -- although I was happy to be done since I am pretty darn sure I ran with a broken toe.

our copyright pics from the race ---

Sam in action -- he would pour the cups of water all over himself at the aid stations (which were ever mile -- SO nice)
Lisa and I -- I don't know where Sam was -- he either stayed right in front of us - or right behind us. I think he preferred the behind view ;) ............
Lisa and Joel after the run -- she ran the half with us -- he was a show off and ran the full :)
Me and my man....................

Run Wards Run!!
