Sam and I went on a date this last Sat. here...........
The Shedd Cafe......
Pretty much looks dumpy right?? And it's in Shedd which is the middle of nowhere. But we happened to get a groupon for this place a while back - we went and got burgers and they were really good. And the small town, everyone-knows-everyone atmosphere was really cute. So when we found out that this place does special dinners twice a month (they usually are just open for lunch) -- we decided we wanted to try it. Even more so when we heard rave reviews about these dinners from a local. So Sat. was our night. And it didn't disappoint.We started out with beer battered onion rings -- all you could eat............. (Sam loves onion rings) :)
Bottomless drinks -- we chose strawberry lemonade........
Then a tossed green salad and wheat bread and these awesome rolls. They were stuffed with cheddar cheese and cream cheese -- mmmm I love cream cheese
Then our main course was a huge locally raise pork chop, green peas, garlic mashed potatoes and homemade applesauce....... (it was hot) :)
And then we had 3 choices for dessert. We were soooooo stuffed it was hard to choose. The choices were a berry cobbler (which i think i might get next time), a choc. cake and a white chocolate mousse with a big strawberry. Sam got the mousse - I got the cake. They both were great..........
Sam got some of my cake too -- I was so full I was actually willing to share my dessert - a very rare occurrence.
This is how we both felt at the end.....about to burst.
It was a lot of fun and we are hoping to make it a monthly date. If anyone would like to join us next time -- come along!!
