Fun New Trick
So lately Jackson has started a fun new thing. He throws up when we try to feed him dinner. It's crazy. He starts out by refusing the food -- won't even try it. Then we try to bribe him with -- "if you eat this, then you get this". He'll take a bite -- chew it up and then spit it out. So then we get frustrated and really push him to take a bite. After a lot of struggle -- he finally will open his mouth -- but before the food even touches his mouth -- he starts gagging and then throws up. He has done this the past 3 nights. And it's not like I am trying out new, weird, gross food on him. The past 3 nights we tried hot dogs, hamburgers and pizza on him. These are things he has eaten before and liked -- especially pizza. He also doesn't do this for breakfast or lunch -- just dinner. I can't figure it out. Anyone have any suggestions?? I'm open.............

How wierd! I don't have any suggestions, I'm a sucker for giving my kids what they want to eat (more to stop the whining than anything else). But this doens't sound like your problem....maybe what he is having for lunch is hurting his tummy and so he doesn't want to eat come dinner time? I don't know, maybe he has come kind of intolerance or allergy to something? Or he's a boy....good luck!
ok so definitely some kids can learn to puke on demand. owen used to do it when I made him eat soup. he used to HAAAAAAAAAAATE soup! isn't that weird? anyways, I finally was like, ok you don't get to eat anything until you finish the soup. and once he went to bed without dinner, then woke up, didn't want it for breakfast, but by about 11am he gave in and ate the soup. he was about 2 when this happened, and I'm not sure how old Jackson is, but it's worth a try. sometimes you gotta just stick to your guns...
Sounds to me (in my very NON-expert opinion) that the puking thing is a phase... a weird, and passing phase. My advise would be to not give the puking too much attention, and this will help the phase pass more quickly. Don't want him to think that, "when I puke everyone goes crazy... think I'll do it again." Again this was a NON-expert opinion from your fellow mom, and friend... Katie
I got nothing.
April; remember Misty!!!
